History of Tata Motors
Tata Motors started in 1945. Back then, it made locomotives, which are parts of trains. In 1954, Tata Group began making commercial vehicles like trucks. They teamed up with a German company called Daimler-Benz. Together, they built a factory in Jamshedpur to make trucks.
After many years of making trucks, Tata Motors started making cars for people in 1991. Their first car was the Tata Sierra, a type of sport utility vehicle. Later, they launched other popular cars like the Tata Estate (a station wagon) in 1992, the Tata Sumo (a 5-door SUV) in 1994, and the Tata Safari in 1998.

In 1998, Tata launched the Tata Indica, a popular car. A newer version, the Indica V2, came out later. Tata Motors also started selling its cars in other countries, like South Africa.

Famous Tata Vehicles
Tata Nano
The Tata Nano was launched in 2009. It was designed to be a very affordable car, especially for families who might only have a motorcycle. It was first sold for about ₹100,000 (around US$1,500). This low price made it very famous. However, production of the Nano ended in May 2018.
Tata Ace
The Tata Ace is a small truck, the first of its kind made in India. It was launched in 2005 and became very popular. It changed the market for small commercial vehicles in India. Many people and businesses use the Ace for transport in cities and rural areas.
The Ace quickly became a top seller for Tata Motors. By 2010, over 500,000 units had been sold. Tata Ace is also sold in other countries in Asia, Europe, South America, and Africa. There are even electric versions of the Ace.
Tata Prima

The Tata Prima is a line of heavy trucks that first came out in 2008. It's known as the company's 'global' truck. The Tata Prima has won awards, like 'Commercial Vehicle of the Year' in 2010 and 2012.
Tata 407
The Tata 407 is a light commercial vehicle (LCV). More than 500,000 units have been sold since it was launched in 1986. In India, it's a very popular LCV, making up about 75% of all LCV sales. The 407 family includes trucks, tippers, and pick-ups. They are used for many jobs, like carrying farm products, construction materials, and for services.
Tata Harrier
The Tata Harrier is a 5-seater SUV. It uses an engine from Fiat and a transmission from Hyundai. The Harrier was first shown as the H5X Concept in 2018 and launched on January 23, 2019.
This car is a C-segment crossover SUV. It is based on a platform from Jaguar Land Rover. A petrol version of the Harrier is planned to be released in 2022–23. The Tata Harrier is also sold in Nepal as the H5.
Tata Nexon
The Tata Nexon is a subcompact crossover SUV that Tata Motors has made since 2017. It was the first crossover SUV from Tata Motors in its size category in India. An electric version of the Nexon, called the Nexon EV, was shown in 2019.
The Nexon EV has a 30.2 kWh battery. It can travel about 312 km on a single charge. It also has fast charging, which can charge the battery from 0% to 80% in just 60 minutes. The Tata Nexon EV was the best-selling electric car in India in April 2021.
Tata Passenger Electric Mobility is a special part of the company that makes electric cars under the Tata Motors brand.
