World and Olympic records set at the 2016 Summer Olympics facts for kids
The 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was an amazing event where athletes from all over the world showed off their incredible skills! During these Games, athletes broke a lot of records. In total, there were 27 world records and 91 Olympic records set across different sports.
A world record means an athlete performed better than anyone else in history in that specific event. An Olympic record means they performed better than anyone else in that event at any past Olympic Games. It's a huge achievement to set either one!
