The 2020s (pronounced "twenty-twenties") is the current decade. It started on January 1, 2020, and will finish on December 31, 2029. This decade has seen many important events and changes around the world.
Big Events of the 2020s
- In 2020, the United Kingdom left the European Union. This event is often called Brexit.
- The COVID-19 pandemic began spreading worldwide in 2020. This was a global outbreak of the COVID-19 disease.
- Millions of people got sick, and many sadly died. To slow the spread, many countries closed schools and workplaces.
- The pandemic also caused big changes in the world's economy.

- In 2004, former President of the United States George W. Bush talked about people trying to fly to Mars during this decade.
- The 2020 Summer Olympics were moved to 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. They still kept the "2020" name.
