List of extreme summits of Canada facts for kids
This article is about some of Canada's most "extreme" mountain peaks. These are mountains that are the highest for their location, whether it's the farthest north, south, east, or west in Canada. Imagine drawing a line across Canada; these peaks would be the tallest points on those lines.
When we talk about mountain peaks, we measure them in a few ways:
- Elevation: This is how high a mountain peak is above sea level. It's like measuring how tall a building is from the ground up.
- Prominence: This measures how much a peak rises above the land right around it. Think of it as how much a mountain stands out from its neighbors.
- Isolation: This tells us how far a peak is from another peak that's just as high. It shows how "alone" a mountain is.
