Natalia Fedner is an American fashion designer, inventor, and actress. She is best known for creating a special metal fabric that can stretch in six different directions. Many famous people have worn her unique designs.
Early Life and School
Natalia Fedner was born in Chernivtsi, which is now part of Ukraine. When she was six years old, she and her parents moved to Columbus, Ohio, in the United States as refugees. Her mother, Alla Fedner, works with computers, and her father, Gregory Fedner, is an engineer. Natalia also has two younger twin sisters who were born in the U.S.
From third grade all the way through high school, Natalia took art classes. She earned a special scholarship to attend the Columbus College of Art and Design.
After finishing high school at Bexley High School in Ohio, Natalia studied fashion design. She attended the Parsons School of Design in New York City and Parsons Paris in France. During her first year, she won the Fusion Award in a design competition. Later, she studied with famous fashion expert Tim Gunn at Parsons. She also won the Silver Thimble Award for her amazing collection of designs in her junior year. When she was a senior, her designs were even shown in the holiday window displays at Saks Fifth Avenue, a big department store.
Fashion Career
After school, Natalia worked as an intern for well-known designers like Donna Karan and Marc Jacobs. She then became a design assistant at Calvin Klein Women's Collection.
In 2014, Natalia appeared on a TV show called Project Runway: Under the Gunn. She was a contestant and finished in sixth place.
Natalia also worked as a costume designer for the popular YouTube series Epic Rap Battles of History. Her work on the show helped it win a Streamy Award for best fashion and design that season.

In 2014, Natalia started her own fashion label, "Natalia Fedner," in Los Angeles. The very first celebrity to wear her design publicly was Jennifer Lopez. Jennifer wore a Natalia Fedner knit gown in her "First Love" music video. She even mentioned the new label in an interview in May 2014.
Many other famous people have worn Natalia Fedner's designs. These include actresses like Charlize Theron, Sharon Stone, Pamela Anderson, Hailee Steinfeld, Vanessa Hudgens, and Keke Palmer. Singers and performers like Lenny Kravitz, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Shakira, Alicia Keys, Cher, Cardi B, Doja Cat, Rosalía, Megan Thee Stallion, Anitta, and Bebe Rexha have also worn her creations.
In 2016, Entertainment Tonight reported that Beyoncé wore a Natalia Fedner metal dress. This was for Beyoncé's visual album Lemonade. Natalia custom-made the dress for an underwater scene. Fashion magazines like Harper's Bazaar and Elle listed it as one of the top looks from the film.
In 2018, Natalia Fedner's collection was accepted into Bergdorf Goodman, a very famous luxury store. Her designs were shown in the store's display windows in September 2018 and March 2019.
In August 2020, Natalia worked with Beyoncé again. She designed a gold chain headpiece for Beyoncé to wear in the "Already" part of her visual album Black is King. This design was featured in many magazines, including Vogue and Billboard.
In July 2021, Natalia had her first solo fashion show. She presented her Spring/Summer 2022 collection at Miami Swim Week. Then, in August 2021, she received a special patent for her unique six-way stretch metal fabric. This invention caught the attention of Vogue magazine, which wrote an article about her.
In October 2021, Natalia received the Emerging Leader Alumni Award from her old school, Bexley High School. In August 2022, it was confirmed that Natalia was creating designs for Beyoncé's Renaissance album.
Helping Others
In February 2020, Natalia was invited to visit Ukraine by the Ukrainian Fashion Club. This was her first time back since she left as a refugee when she was a child.
After Russia attacked Ukraine in February 2022, Natalia started raising money. She also worked with groups that help people, called NGOs, and charities. She helped Ukrainian refugees, including people she had met during her 2020 visit.
In October 2022, Natalia held a fashion show to raise even more money. This money was used to buy medical supplies for people in Ukraine.
