Historic Homes and Buildings

Many of the places on the National Register are old homes or important buildings. They show us how people lived and worked many years ago.

I.W.P. Buchanan House

The I.W.P. Buchanan House is located in Lebanon. It was designed by a famous architect named George Franklin Barber from Knoxville. Architects are people who design buildings, and George F. Barber was known for his beautiful and detailed house designs. This house was added to the list in 1979.

Dr. John Owen Campbell House

The Dr. John Owen Campbell House is west of Lebanon. This house was built a very long time ago, in 1842! Imagine what life was like when this house was first built. It was added to the National Register in 1980.

Fite-Fessenden House

The Fite-Fessenden House is also in Lebanon. It's special because it's now home to the Wilson County Museum! This means you can visit it and learn even more about the history of the area. It was listed in 1985.

Mitchell House

The Mitchell House is on the grounds of what used to be the Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon. Today, it serves as the main office for a group called The Sigma Pi Fraternity. It became a historic place in 1979.

William Washington Seay House

The William Washington Seay House is in Flat Rock. It's another example of a historic home that tells us about the past. This house was added to the list in 1995.

Lebanon Commercial Historic District

The heart of Lebanon, especially around the public square and nearby streets, is known as the Lebanon Commercial Historic District. This area shows what a busy town center looked like in the past. It was recognized as a historic district in 1999.

Watertown Commercial Historic District

Just like Lebanon, the downtown area of Watertown, including Main Street and Depot Avenue, is a historic district. The Watertown Commercial Historic District was added to the list in 2000.

Camp Bell

Camp Bell is a historic site located on Coles Ferry Pike in Lebanon. It was added to the National Register in 1982.

Lebanon Woolen Mills

The Lebanon Woolen Mills was once a place where wool was processed and made into fabric. It's located in Lebanon and was listed in 2007. Today, it's being updated to become a shopping center, which is a cool way to reuse an old building!

Memorial Hall, Cumberland University

On the campus of Cumberland University in Lebanon, you'll find Memorial Hall. This building is an important part of the university's history and was added to the National Register in 1977.

Pickett Chapel Methodist Church

The Pickett Chapel Methodist Church in Lebanon was built in 1827! That's almost 200 years ago. It's currently being restored, which means people are working to fix it up and make it look new again while keeping its historic charm. It was listed in 1977.
