Sandusky County is a place in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is located in the northwestern part of the state. In 2020, about 58,896 people lived there.
The main city and county seat is Fremont. Sandusky County was created on February 12, 1820. It was formed from parts of Huron County. The name "Sandusky" comes from a word in the Wyandot language. It means "water." The Sandusky River flows through the county and into Sandusky Bay, which connects to Lake Erie.
