Simon Marcus (born 5 November 1986), also known as The One, is a Canadian mixed martial artist. He was also a famous Muay Thai kickboxer. He competes in the Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight divisions.
Simon Marcus was a two-time Glory Middleweight champion. In 2012, he won the WPMF World Light Heavyweight title. He also beat famous fighters like Joe Schilling (twice) and Israel Adesanya. Combat Press ranked him as a Top 10 middleweight for many years.

Early Life and Training
Simon Marcus is a Jamaican Canadian. When he was fifteen, he found a Muay Thai gym called Siam No.1. He started training there.
Later, he took a break from Muay Thai to play basketball. After some time, he returned to the gym. His goal was to become a professional fighter.
Kickboxing Career
Amateur Success
Simon Marcus started Muay Thai at age sixteen. He quickly became successful as an amateur. He won medals at three international tournaments. He also became the North American Cruiserweight Champion.
In 2006, he began his amateur career. He won a gold medal at the 2007 IFMA World Championships. He then finished second the next year. In 2009, he won the WKA Amateur North American Cruiserweight title. He also won gold at the World Combat Games 2010.
Becoming a Professional Fighter
Marcus turned professional in 2007. He fought as both a pro and amateur until 2011. In Thailand, he won his first professional titles. He claimed the Thaphae Stadium Light Heavyweight belt. He also won the Northern Thailand Cruiserweight strap.
In 2010, he had important wins against Filip Verlinden and Eh Phoutong. He also beat Japanese fighter Ryuta Noji. He ended 2010 with a first-round knockout in China. He won a rematch against Guo Hang Hang in 2011.
Rivalry with Joe Schilling
In 2012, Simon Marcus entered the world's top ten rankings. On 25 February 2012, he fought Joe Schilling. This fight was to decide North America's best light heavyweight. Marcus won by knockout in the first round. Schilling's team said one of Marcus's moves was illegal. They tried to change the fight result, but it was not changed.
Later in 2012, Marcus fought for his first world title. He faced Kaoklai Kaennorsing in Bangkok, Thailand. Marcus won the fight by decision. He became the WPMF World Light Heavyweight Champion.
On 21 April 2012, Marcus won two fights in one night in China. He knocked out Green Spangler. Then he beat Li Shuai by decision.
Because of the first fight's controversy, Marcus and Joe Schilling had a rematch. This was on 12 May 2012. It was a close fight. Marcus won by majority decision. His knees and throws from the clinch helped him win.
Major Fights and Titles
Marcus moved up to #6 in the world rankings. He was set to fight Artem Levin, a top kickfighter. This fight was for the WBC Muaythai World Light Heavyweight title. However, Marcus had to pull out of the fight.
He returned to fighting on 1 December 2012. He won by knockout against Sadibou Sy. He ended 2012 with a perfect record of 6 wins and 0 losses.
In 2013, Marcus again won two fights in one night. He knocked out Arthit Hanchana and Wang Anying.
The fight between Simon Marcus and Artem Levin was set for a third time. It happened on 15 March 2013. This was for the Lion Fight Light Heavyweight Championship. Marcus won by unanimous decision. This win made him the world's number one fighter.
On 27 April 2013, Marcus beat Dmitry Valent in China. He then fought Suriya Prasathinphimai on 14 June 2013. Marcus won by unanimous decision. He kept his WPMF belt.
He had a controversial draw with Chidi Njokuani on 29 September 2013. Marcus was docked a point during the fight. The fight was very close.
In December 2013, Marcus beat Damian Bujan in Argentina. He won by split decision. In January 2014, he won by TKO against Li Bei in China.
Marcus won a tournament in China on 16 February 2014. In the semi-finals, he fought Israel Adesanya. Marcus won after an extra round. In the final, he won by knockout in the first round.
Glory Kickboxing
In 2014, Marcus joined the Glory 17: Los Angeles - Last Man Standing tournament. He fought Joe Schilling for the third time. The fight went to an extra round. Marcus lost by knockout. This was his first professional loss.
At Glory 21: San Diego, Marcus fought Artem Levin for the Glory Middleweight Title. The fight ended in a controversial draw. They had a rematch at Glory 27: Chicago. Marcus won the fight by disqualification. Levin left the ring during the fight.
Marcus defended his title against Dustin Jacoby at Glory 34: Denver. He won by TKO. He broke Jacoby's arm with a kick. In his next defense, he lost his title to Jason Wilnis.
Two months later, Marcus won two fights by TKO. Then, he fought Jason Wilnis again at Glory 40: Copenhagen. Marcus won by split decision. He became the Glory Middleweight Champion for the second time. He then lost his title to Alex Pereira.
In 2018, Marcus won against Zack Wells at Glory 52: Los Angeles. He won by TKO in just 63 seconds. He then fought Jason Wilnis for the fourth time. Marcus won by split decision.
Marcus challenged for the Glory Middleweight title again. He fought Alex Pereira for a rematch. Pereira won by unanimous decision.
Mixed Martial Arts Career
Simon Marcus made his professional MMA debut on 17 December 2021. He fought Anton Tokarchuk in Unified MMA 42. Marcus won the fight by decision. Tokarchuk could not continue due to an accidental eye poke.
Marcus was set to fight Dylan Schellenberg next. However, the fight was canceled.
