Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens is an exciting American space opera movie from 2015. It was made by Lucasfilm and Bad Robot Productions, and Disney helped share it with the world. This film is the seventh part of the famous Star Wars movie series. J. J. Abrams directed it, and George Lucas helped write the story.
Many actors from the original movies returned, including Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher. The amazing music for the movie was created by John Williams. The movie first came out on December 18, 2015. Its full title, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, was announced in November 2014.

The Story of The Force Awakens
The movie's story takes place about 30 years after Return of the Jedi. In that time, the evil Darth Vader and the Emperor were defeated. This new adventure follows three young people who meet characters from the earlier movies. They join forces to fight against a new threat in the galaxy.
Main Characters and Cast

Heroes and Allies
- Harrison Ford plays Han Solo, a brave smuggler who flies the fast Millennium Falcon with his loyal friend Chewbacca. He is also in love with Princess Leia, who is now a general.
- Mark Hamill plays Luke Skywalker. Luke only appears at the very end of the movie. He doesn't say anything, but his appearance sets up future stories.
- Carrie Fisher plays General Leia Organa. She leads the Resistance, a group fighting against evil. She is also the mother of the villain, Kylo Ren.
- Daisy Ridley plays Rey, a scavenger who lives on the desert planet Jakku. She is very independent and skilled. Her life changes when she meets new friends and starts a big adventure.
- John Boyega plays Finn, a stormtrooper who decides to leave the First Order. His brave choice puts him right into the middle of the Star Wars universe.
- Oscar Isaac plays Poe Dameron, a top pilot for the Resistance. He is known as the best pilot in the galaxy. Poe is sent on an important mission by General Leia.
- Lupita Nyong'o plays Maz Kanata, a wise and old pirate.
- Anthony Daniels plays C-3PO, the polite golden robot.
- Peter Mayhew plays Chewbacca, Han Solo's Wookiee co-pilot.
- Max von Sydow plays Lor San Tekka, an old explorer.
Villains and Their Forces
- Adam Driver plays Kylo Ren, a powerful warrior who uses the dark side of the Force. He is a leader in the First Order and is the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia.
- Andy Serkis plays Supreme Leader Snoke, Kylo Ren's mysterious and powerful master. Snoke is a very strong user of the dark side.
- Domhnall Gleeson plays General Hux, who leads the First Order's main base, Starkiller Base.
- Gwendoline Christie plays Captain Phasma, a tough officer in the First Order.
Other Notable Appearances
- Kenny Baker plays R2-D2, the brave little droid.
- Tim Rose plays Admiral Ackbar.
- Daniel Craig has a small cameo as a Stormtrooper.
- Ewan McGregor provides the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi in one scene.
Movie Release
Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released in many countries around the world. It first came out in some places on December 16, 2015. Most countries, including the United States, saw the movie on December 18, 2015. It was also shown in special IMAX theaters for a bigger experience.
