- July 5 – In China, Emperor Guangzong of the Sung dynasty had to give up his power. This meant he was no longer the ruler.
- November 20 – The city of Palermo in Sicily was taken over by Henry VI. This was a big win for him.
- December 25 – On Christmas Day, Henry VI officially became the King of Sicily. This gave him control over a large area.
- The city of Portsmouth in England received its Royal Charter. This special document gave Portsmouth important rights and made it an official town.
- Henry Marshal became the Bishop of Exeter. A bishop is a high-ranking church leader.
- The Yellow River in China changed its path in a major way. For the next 700 years, it flowed into the Huai River system. This changed the landscape and how people lived.
