- Qutb-ud-Din, a general from the Ghurid empire, successfully captured the city of Delhi. This was a very important city in India.
- Muhammad Khilji, another general working for Qutb-ud-Din, attacked and burned Nalanda. Nalanda was one of India's greatest Buddhist universities, a huge center for learning and knowledge. Its destruction was a big loss for education at the time.
