André Miguel Valente da Silva (born 6 November 1995) is a Portuguese professional footballer. He plays as a striker for Bundesliga club RB Leipzig. He also plays for the Portugal national team.
André Silva started his football journey at Porto. He played for their reserve team before joining the main squad in 2015. He later moved to AC Milan in 2017. He also played for Sevilla and Eintracht Frankfurt on loan. He signed a permanent contract with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2020. After a great season where he scored 28 goals, he joined RB Leipzig.
Silva has also played for Portugal at many youth levels. He was part of the team that finished second at the 2014 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. He made his debut for the senior national team two years later. He played in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, where Portugal finished third. He also played in two World Cups and Euro 2020.

Club Journey
Starting at Porto
André Silva was born in Baguim do Monte, Portugal. He began playing football with S.C. Salgueiros after trying swimming. He briefly played for Boavista but soon returned to Salgueiros.
He finished his youth career at Porto. He joined their junior team in 2011 when he was 15. On 12 August 2013, he made his first professional appearance. He played for the B team in a match they won 3–2.
In his second season with Porto B, he played 34 games and scored seven goals. This helped the team finish 13th in the league.
First Team Debut
Silva played his first game for Porto's main team on 29 December 2015. He played the whole game in a 1–3 loss against Marítimo. A few days later, he played his first game in the Primeira Liga.
At the start of the 2015–16 season, Silva was not a main striker. But when José Peseiro became the new manager, he got more chances. He scored his first league goal in a 4–0 win against Boavista. He also scored two goals in the Taça de Portugal final. One of his goals was a bicycle kick in the last minute.
Silva started the 2016–17 season very well. He scored in his first two league games. He also scored in a UEFA Champions League match against Roma. On 21 August 2016, he signed a new five-year contract with Porto.
Moving to Other Clubs
AC Milan
On 12 June 2017, Silva moved to AC Milan in Italy. He signed a five-year contract. He was very happy to join such a famous club. He was given the number 9 shirt.
Silva played his first game for Milan on 27 July. He helped his team win 1–0 in a UEFA Europa League qualifying match. On 17 August, he scored two goals and made one assist in a 6–0 win. On 14 September, he scored three goals in a 5–1 win against Austria Wien. This was a hat-trick and made him the first Milan player to do so in Europe since 2006. He scored his first goal in the Serie A league on 11 March 2018. It was a last-minute header that won the game 1–0.
Sevilla (Loan)
On 11 August 2018, Silva joined Spanish club Sevilla on loan for a season. He played his first game the next day. He scored a hat-trick in his first La Liga match on 19 August. Sevilla won that game 4–1. He also scored two goals against Real Madrid on 26 September.
Eintracht Frankfurt
On 2 September 2019, Silva moved to Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany on a two-year loan. He played his first game in the Bundesliga 12 days later. He scored his first goal in the league on 22 September.
After the COVID-19 pandemic break, Silva scored eight goals in ten games. He scored 12 goals in total that season. This was a new record for a Portuguese player in the German top league.
On 10 September 2020, Silva signed a permanent contract with Eintracht Frankfurt. He was named Player of the Month in January. He scored 28 goals that season, breaking a 44-year-old club record. Only Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski scored more goals that season.
RB Leipzig
Silva joined RB Leipzig on 2 July 2021. He signed a five-year contract. On 20 August, he scored his first goal for the club. His first goal in the Champions League came on 19 October. He also scored two goals in the DFB-Pokal cup, which his team won.
On 2 August 2023, Silva went on loan to Real Sociedad in Spain. He played his first game for them on 30 September.
International Career
Youth Teams
Silva played for Portugal at every youth level. He played in the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup with the under-20 team. He scored four goals in the group stage. Before that, in the 2014 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, he scored four goals in one match. This was a 6–1 win against Hungary.
On 8 September 2015, in his first game for the under-21 team, Silva scored three goals in just 19 minutes. This helped Portugal win 6–1 against Albania.
Senior Team
Silva was first called up to the senior national team on 26 August 2016. He played in a 5–0 friendly win against Gibraltar. He scored his first goal for Portugal on 7 October. It was in a 6–0 win against Andorra. Three days later, he scored three goals in the first half against the Faroe Islands.
Silva was chosen for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. He played his first game in the tournament against Mexico. He scored his first goal in the competition on 24 June. It was in a 4–0 win against New Zealand.
In May 2018, Silva was picked for Portugal's team for the FIFA World Cup. He scored the 1000th goal in the national team's history in a friendly match. He played his first World Cup game on 15 June. He also played in UEFA Euro 2020 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
