Later, he played on loan for Manisaspor during the second half of the 2005–06 season, where he scored two goals.

At the start of the 2009–10 season, Arda Turan became the captain of Galatasaray. He was also given the number 10 jersey, which was a special number worn by famous players before him. He played in 12 league matches, scoring two goals. His strong performances at Galatasaray made the Spanish club Atlético Madrid interested in him.

First Season: 2011–12
He wore the number 11 shirt. He played his first game in La Liga on 28 August 2011 against Osasuna, coming in as a substitute.
