The Broye District is one of seven districts in the Canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. It is located near Lake Neuchâtel. This district is special because its land is not all connected. It is split into four parts, with three parts being separate from the main area of Fribourg.

Changes to Municipalities Over Time
Over the years, many towns and villages in the Broye District have joined together to form larger municipalities. This helps them work together more efficiently.
Here are some examples of these changes:
- In 2005, the towns of Delley and Portalban merged to create Delley-Portalban.
- In 2016, four municipalities – Domdidier, Dompierre, Léchelles, and Russy – combined to form the new municipality of Belmont-Broye.
- In 2017, several towns like Châbles and Cheyres merged to become Cheyres-Châbles. Also, Estavayer-le-Lac grew by combining with six other towns.

School System in Fribourg
The Canton of Fribourg has a clear school system:
- Children start with one year of optional Kindergarten.
- Then they go to six years of Primary school.
- After that, they attend three years of mandatory lower Secondary school. Students are grouped based on their abilities.
- Next, students can choose to go to an optional three or four-year upper Secondary school. This can be a gymnasium (which prepares them for university) or a vocational program (which teaches them skills for a job).
- After upper Secondary, students can go to a higher education school or start an apprenticeship to learn a trade.
In the 2010–11 school year, there were over 3,800 students in Broye. These students attended various classes from kindergarten to specialized higher education programs.
