FanX Salt Lake (also known as Salt Lake Comic Con before) is a super fun event held twice a year in Salt Lake City, Utah. It's like a huge party for fans of movies, TV shows, comic books, video games, and all sorts of pop culture!
This big expo is put on by Dan Farr Productions, created by Dan Farr and Bryan Brandenburg. It's actually Utah's biggest convention, meaning lots and lots of people come to visit! The very first event happened at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City. A second event, called Salt Lake Comic Con FanXperience, started in April 2014.
How FanX Salt Lake Started
The first ever Salt Lake Comic Con was held from September 5 to 7, 2013. It was a huge success! More than 70,000 people came to check it out. Famous guests like Adam West (who played Batman!), William Shatner (Captain Kirk from Star Trek), and comic book legend Stan Lee were there.
In April 2014, another event called FanXperience took place. This one was even bigger, with over 100,000 people attending!
Why the Name Changed
For a while, there was a disagreement about using the name "Comic Con." Another big event, San Diego Comic-Con, felt they owned the name. After some discussions, the organizers of the Salt Lake event decided to change its name to FanX. This happened in 2018, so now it's known as FanX Salt Lake!
