Level Up is a live-action TV show that aired on Cartoon Network. A movie with the same name came out on November 23, 2011. This movie was like a test episode for the series. The show then ran from January 24, 2012, to February 19, 2013. Level Up was the second Cartoon Network show to come from a live-action movie. The first one was Out of Jimmy's Head.

What is Level Up About?

The story begins when four high school friends accidentally open a portal. This portal connects their real world to a video game called Maldark: Conqueror of All Worlds. Because of this, characters and monsters from the game start appearing in their town.

The friends are Wyatt, Lyle, Dante, and Angie. They have to balance their normal school lives with these strange events. They use a special tool called NeverFail to send the game characters back. They "bard" them, which means sending them back into the game.

Meet the Characters

The Heroes

  • Wyatt Black (played by Gaelan Connell) – Wyatt is super smart with technology. He gets perfect grades and knows a lot. He created NeverFail and leads the team in their missions. His game character is "Black Death," a strong warrior. Wyatt's weapon is a "Blast-a-Ton," which can shoot almost anything.
  • Lyle Hugginson (played by Jessie Usher) – Lyle is the high school quarterback and plays American football. He's popular and charming, but he secretly loves online fantasy games. Lyle often shouts "Huzza!" when things go well. He drives a red Chevy Camaro. His game character is "Wizza," a Dread Orc, and his weapon is a "Thunder Pole" magic staff.
  • Dante Ontero (played by Connor Del Rio) – Dante is brave and acts without thinking. He loves causing trouble and eating junk food. He often does risky skateboard stunts for online videos. His game character is "Sir Bickle," a Shiny Knight. Dante's weapon is a "Skull Cracker" hammer.
  • Angie Prietto (played by Aimee Carrero) – Angie is smart, energetic, and determined. Her curiosity sometimes gets the group into trouble. She doesn't play the game, so she doesn't have an avatar. Her weapon is the "Fist of Schoolage," a glove that turns into an armored fist.
  • Max Ross (played by Lonny Ross) – Max Ross created the game "Conqueror of All Worlds." He's a very rich and unusual person who believes in many conspiracy theories. After the game's villain, Maldark, attacked, Max became a helper to the kids.
    • Laserbot (voiced by Andrea Fraser-Winsby) – A robot built by Max Ross.
  • Joaquin Prietto (played by Isaiah Lehtinen) – Joaquin is Angie's younger brother. He's a genius at everything he tries. He becomes friends with the group and is also a fan of "Conqueror of All Worlds." Joaquin eventually learns the truth about the "Leaks" and joins the NeverFail team. He uses "The War Hammer of Splat."

The Villains

  • Maldark (played by John Novak) – Maldark is the main bad guy from the game. He's a powerful sorcerer who wants to destroy or take over new worlds. Wyatt and his friends defeated him once. But Maldark keeps sending his helpers to Earth to find a way to get there himself.
  • Hideo Nojima (played by James Rha) – Hideo is a rich Japanese game designer. He created a cell phone game called "Mystery Puzzle Puncher." He is Max Ross's rival, and they have competed since they were kids. Hideo learns about the "leaks" and tries to ruin Max.
