Jake Joseph Paul (born January 17, 1997) is an American professional boxer, influencer, and actor. He first became famous by sharing videos on an app called Vine starting in 2013. He quickly gained millions of followers and billions of views before Vine closed down.
In 2014, he started his own YouTube channel. Forbes magazine recognized him as one of the highest-paid YouTube creators several times. As an actor, Jake Paul played Dirk Mann in the Disney Channel show Bizaardvark from 2016 to 2018. He also appeared in movies like Dance Camp (2016) and Airplane Mode (2019).
Jake Paul started his boxing journey in 2018 with an amateur match against Deji Olatunji, which he won. He made his professional boxing debut in 2020. Jake Paul was born on January 17, 1997, in Cleveland, Ohio. He grew up in Westlake, Ohio, with his older brother Logan, who is also a well-known YouTuber. The brothers started making videos when Jake was ten years old. Their parents are Pamela Ann Stepnick and Gregory Allan Paul.
Entertainment Career
Early Fame on Vine and YouTube
Jake Paul began his online career in September 2013 on the video app Vine. By the time Vine closed, he had 5.3 million followers and 2 billion video views. He launched his YouTube channel on May 15, 2014. His channel became popular for its pranks, funny videos, and hip hop music.
After becoming famous online, Paul joined the cast of the Disney Channel show Bizaardvark. He played Dirk Mann, a character who performed dares. In July 2017, Paul left the show while filming its second season. This happened after news reports about complaints from his neighbors regarding noise and large crowds. Paul later said he wanted to focus more on his YouTube channel and other projects.
Music and Team 10
In 2016, Jake Paul started an entertainment group called Team 10. On his 20th birthday in 2017, he launched TeamDom, a media company, with $1 million in funding. This company aimed to manage and promote young entertainers.

Boxing Career
Early Fights
In 2018, Jake Paul had his first boxing match against English YouTuber Deji Olatunji. This fight was part of a bigger event where his brother Logan Paul fought Deji's brother, KSI. The match took place on August 25 in Manchester, England. Paul won by a technical knockout in the fifth round.
In 2020, Paul made his professional boxing debut against English YouTuber AnEsonGib. The fight happened on January 30 in Miami, Florida. Paul won quickly by technical knockout in the first round.
On November 28, Paul returned to the ring to fight basketball player Nate Robinson. This fight was on the same night as a match between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr.. Paul defeated Robinson by knockout in the second round.

Paul vs. Askren
In 2021, after some back-and-forth online, it was announced that Paul would fight former MMA champion Ben Askren. The match took place on April 17, 2021, in Atlanta, Georgia. Paul won by technical knockout in the first round.
Paul vs. Woodley
Before the Askren fight, Paul had a small argument with former UFC champion Tyron Woodley. After Paul beat Askren, Woodley challenged him to a fight. On August 29, Paul fought Woodley in Cleveland, Ohio. Paul won by a split decision, meaning the judges had different opinions, but most favored Paul. After the fight, Woodley wanted a rematch.
In December, Paul was supposed to fight English boxer Tommy Fury, but Fury had to pull out due to health issues. So, Paul fought Woodley again on December 18. Paul won this rematch by knockout in the sixth round. This victory earned him the ESPN Ringside Award for "Knockout of the Year."
In 2022, Paul was scheduled to fight Tommy Fury again, but Fury withdrew once more. Paul then planned to fight Hasim Rahman Jr., but that event was also canceled.
Paul vs. Silva
After the cancellations, it was announced that Paul would fight former UFC champion Anderson Silva on October 29. The fight took place in Glendale, Arizona. Paul defeated Silva by unanimous decision, meaning all judges agreed he won.
First Loss and Comeback
Paul vs. Fury
After two failed attempts, Paul finally fought Tommy Fury on February 26, 2023, in Saudi Arabia. Fury defeated Paul by split decision, even though Paul knocked Fury down in the eighth round. This was Paul's first professional boxing loss.
After losing to Fury, there were talks about Paul fighting KSI. However, Paul decided to fight Nate Diaz instead, believing Diaz would be a tougher opponent.
Paul vs. Diaz
On April 12, it was announced that Paul would fight Nate Diaz on August 5 in Dallas, Texas. The fight was originally set for 8 rounds but was extended to 10. Paul defeated Diaz by unanimous decision.
Moving Up in Weight and Fighting Professional Boxers
On October 16, 2023, Paul announced he would return to the ring on December 15. His opponent was confirmed to be professional boxer Andre August. This fight, held in Orlando, Florida, was Paul's first main event not shown on pay-per-view. Paul stated he wanted to gain more experience in the ring. He defeated August by knockout in the first round.
On March 2, 2024, Paul fought American professional boxer Ryan Bourland in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Paul won by technical knockout in the first round.
Paul vs. Perry
On June 11, 2024, it was announced that Paul would fight former UFC fighter Mike Perry on July 20, 2024. This fight was arranged after Mike Tyson had to postpone their match. Paul won the fight against Perry by technical knockout in the sixth round.
Sanctioned Fight Against Mike Tyson
On March 7, 2024, it was announced that Paul would fight former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. This fight was shown on Netflix. It was Paul's first fight in the heavyweight division. On April 29, 2024, it was confirmed that the fight would be a professional boxing match. The fight was postponed to November 15, 2024, after Tyson had a health issue.
Before the fight, Netflix released a show called Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson. Paul defeated Tyson by unanimous decision. This match became the biggest boxing event in U.S. history outside of Las Vegas.
Most Valuable Promotions
In 2021, Jake Paul and his advisor Nakisa Bidarian started a boxing promotion company called 'Most Valuable Promotions' (MVP). Their first boxer signed was Puerto Rican champion Amanda Serrano.
In 2022, MVP worked with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing to promote the fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. This event was called "For History" and was the first women's boxing match to headline Madison Square Garden. It was praised as the 'biggest women's fight of all time'.

In April 2019, Paul began dating fellow YouTuber Tana Mongeau. They announced their engagement in June 2019 and had a ceremony in Las Vegas in July. However, this ceremony was not a legally binding marriage. They announced their breakup in January 2020.
On April 3, 2023, Paul and Dutch speed skater Jutta Leerdam confirmed they were a couple.
In September 2023, Paul supported Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. He later expressed support for Donald Trump and has been critical of President Joe Biden. Following an event involving Donald Trump in July 2024, Paul posted on social media about his support. He officially endorsed Trump in a YouTube video on October 31, 2024.
