List of Pixar shorts facts for kids
This is a list of short animated films made by Pixar Animation Studios. These short films are often shown before Pixar's main movies in theaters. Other shorts are released on home video or made to show off Pixar's cool animation technology.
Pixar started making these shorts in the 1980s. Back then, Pixar was a computer hardware company, and John Lasseter was their only professional animator. After Pixar became a full animation studio, starting with Geri's Game, they began making shorts with bigger teams and budgets.
Between 1990 and 1994, Pixar created four computer-animated shorts for the TV show Sesame Street. These shorts, like Light & Heavy and Surprise, featured Luxo Jr. and Luxo to teach about different weights and directions.
For a while, Pixar made extra content for their movies, like funny "outtakes" that played during the credits. Later, they started making special short films just for the DVD releases of their movies.
Recently, some Pixar movies like Toy Story 4 and Luca didn't have a Pixar short film shown before them in theaters. However, Elemental was the first Pixar movie since Incredibles 2 to have a new Pixar short play before it in cinemas.

Other Pixar Animation Work
Besides their famous short films, Pixar has also created other animated pieces. This includes short educational films for Sesame Street, animation tests to try out new technology, and even commercials for different products.
For example, in 1988, Apple's Advanced Technology Group made a computer-animated short called "Pencil Test. Even though Pixar wasn't officially in charge, some Pixar staff, like John Lasseter, helped out.
Pixar also has a "Co-op Program" where their animators can use Pixar's tools to make their own independent films.
