List of highest points in Arizona by county facts for kids
Have you ever wondered what the tallest spot is in each part of Arizona? This article lists the highest natural points in every county across the state. These special spots are often called 'county highpoints.' We'll explore these peaks and learn a bit about how their heights are measured.
The heights listed here come from detailed maps made by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Sometimes, a height might have a plus sign (+) next to it. This means the actual highest point is at least that tall, but it could be a little bit higher.
Exploring Arizona's Highpoints
Back in 1977, an explorer named Robert Walko made a list of all the highest points in Arizona's counties. He then hiked to each one! At that time, Arizona had 14 counties. Later, in 1983, La Paz County was created from a part of Yuma County. This meant there was a new county highpoint to discover!
