Lower Mount Walker is a small area, called a locality, in Queensland, Australia. It's special because it's split between two local government areas: the Scenic Rim Region and the City of Ipswich. In 2021, about 192 people lived here.

Geography and Nature

The Bremer River flows through Lower Mount Walker. It enters the area from the south and leaves towards the north-east.

You can find a special type of forest here. It's a remnant of a swamp tea-tree forest, which is considered very rare and important to protect.

Most of the land in Lower Mount Walker is used for grazing animals. Some crops are also grown, especially near the Bremer River.

History of the Area

A school called Mount Walker Lower Provisional School first opened on 12 November 1923. A few years later, in 1927, the school building was moved to Lower Mount Walker.

The school officially became Mount Walker Lower State School on 19 March 1928. However, it closed around 1945. The old school was located at 286-294 Mount Walker West Road.
