Nickelodeon is a TV channel made just for kids! It's available in many homes across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. You might get it as part of a TV package you pay for, or sometimes even for free. Nickelodeon is watched in over 24 million homes across Europe.
ViacomCBS Networks EMEAA runs Nickelodeon. The channel first started in Europe in the United Kingdom in 1993. After that, Nickelodeon launched a version that could be seen across many European countries. They also started other local Nickelodeon channels in different places.
Nickelodeon Across Europe
The version of Nickelodeon that plays across many European countries is called Nickelodeon Europe. It shows popular cartoons and live-action shows from Nickelodeon in the USA. It also features local shows from places like the UK, Ireland, and Australia and New Zealand.
Nickelodeon Europe broadcasts 24 hours a day. You can usually watch it in English. It also has sound options in other languages like Russian, Hungarian, Croatian, and Serbian. More than 68 million homes in Europe and Central Asia can watch this version of Nickelodeon. Many countries in Europe also have their own local Nickelodeon channels or special blocks of Nickelodeon shows. For example, the UK and Ireland version of Nickelodeon started an HD (high-definition) channel on 5 October 2010.
A New Look for Nickelodeon Channels
In January 2010, Viacom International updated the look of its Nickelodeon channels around the world. This new style changed how the channel looked on TV, online, and in other places. The new look included a fresh Nickelodeon logo that first appeared on Nickelodeon in the US in September 2009.
This new design first appeared on Nickelodeon France on January 29, 2010. Then it came to the UK and Ireland on February 15, 2010. Other countries like Poland, countries in Africa, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland also got the new look in early 2010. Nickelodeon Europe updated its look again in 2012, taking on the new style from Nickelodeon USA. Nickelodeon (UK and Ireland) was the first to show these new updates in October 2011, and they were fully used by January 2, 2012.
