Premier League Goal of the Season facts for kids
The Premier League Goal of the Season is a special yearly award in football. It celebrates the player who scored the most amazing goal during the Premier League season. Imagine the most incredible, jaw-dropping goal you've ever seen – that's what this award is all about!
Each season, the Premier League creates a list of the best goals. This list usually includes goals that won the Premier League Goal of the Month award. Sometimes, a super goal scored in May, which didn't have a monthly vote, also makes it onto the list. To pick the winner, fans get to vote online (this counts for 10% of the final decision). A group of football experts also votes, and their choices are combined with the public vote to find the winning goal.
This exciting award first started after the 2016–17 season. Over the years, it has had different sponsors. From the 2024–25 season, it has been known as the Guinness Goal of the Season. Before that, it was sponsored by Carling and Budweiser. In 2020, the Premier League also decided to look back at all the seasons since the league began and chose 'unofficial' winners for many past incredible goals.
The very first official winner was Emre Can from Liverpool. He scored an amazing bicycle kick goal against Watford. The most recent winner is Omar Marmoush from Manchester City, who scored a fantastic long-range strike against Bournemouth.
