Robert Clarence Irwin was born on December 1, 2003. He is an Australian conservationist, television presenter, zookeeper, wildlife photographer, and actor. Many fans say he is very much like his famous late father, Steve Irwin.
Robert currently helps host the TV show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here on Network 10. He works at the Australia Zoo, doing many of the same activities his father did. This includes working with crocodiles, handling snakes, and feeding the animals. In September 2024, Robert and Nomzamo Mbatha became the first Global Ambassadors for the Earthshot Prize.

Robert's Early Life
Robert Clarence Irwin was born in Buderim, Queensland, Australia. He is the younger child and only son of Steve Irwin and Terri Irwin. His first and middle names honor his grandfathers, Bob Irwin and Clarence Raines.
When Robert was two years old, his father passed away from a stingray injury. After this, Robert and his sister, Bindi Irwin, were home-schooled at the Australia Zoo. Robert is a citizen of both Australia and the United States.
A Young Start with Crocodiles
When Robert was just one month old, his father held him while feeding a large saltwater crocodile. This event led to new laws in Queensland about children being near crocodiles. These laws made sure that children and untrained adults could not enter crocodile areas.
However, a child can enter an enclosure if they have special training and meet strict safety rules. In 2012, at eight years old, Robert was allowed to feed freshwater crocodiles for the first time. This was after a lot of training and under expert supervision.
Robert's Career and Adventures
In 2009, Robert had a small part in the movie Free Willy: Escape from Pirate's Cove. He later appeared with his mother and sister in the TV series Steve Irwin's Wildlife Warriors in 2012. From 2014 to 2015, he co-hosted Wild But True on Discovery Kids Channel. This show was even nominated for an award in 2016.
In 2013, Robert started a book series called Dinosaur Hunter. He wrote these books with Lachlan Creag and Jack Wells. In 2015, he was a guest on the British wildlife show Ten Deadliest Snakes with Nigel Marven. He helped the host find a red-bellied black snake at Australia Zoo.
Photography and Conservation
Robert is a talented photographer. In 2016, he was a runner-up in the junior category of the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year competition. He shares his photos in the Australia Zoo Crikey magazine.
He uses his photography to help people learn about protecting wildlife. He has also raised a lot of money for his family's non-profit group, Crocodile Diaries. He does this by selling his photos at events around the world. Robert has even met with important people like King Charles III to talk about protecting nature.
Television Appearances
On February 16, 2017, Robert made his first appearance on a late-night TV show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He brought different animals to show the host, Jimmy Fallon, like a dwarf crocodile and a sloth. Robert has been on The Tonight Show many times since then, showing new animals each time.
Robert has traveled the world on photography trips. He has explored places from the African savannah to the mountains of New Zealand.
In April 2017, Robert became a member and ambassador for Scouts Australia. This partnership helps encourage young Australians to get involved with nature and conservation. He has also been featured in magazines for teenagers, like Vanity.
In 2020, Robert voiced a character named Alfie, a dingo retail clerk, in an episode of the popular cartoon Bluey.
In February 2022, while filming Crikey! It's the Irwins, Robert had a close call with a large saltwater crocodile named Casper. The crocodile ignored its food and went straight for Robert. Luckily, Robert quickly climbed out of the enclosure and was safe.
In October 2023, it was announced that Robert would become the new co-host of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! for its tenth season in 2024. He joined Julia Morris as host and returned for the eleventh season in 2025. In April 2025, Robert was announced as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars in the United States.
