The year 2 AD was a common year. This means it was a regular year, not a leap year. It started on a Sunday according to the Julian calendar, which was used by the Romans. If we used today's Gregorian calendar, it would have started on a Tuesday.
In Roman times, people called this year the Year of the Consulship of Vinicius and Varus. This was because Vinicius and Varus were the main leaders, called consuls, that year. It was also the second year of the 1st century.
