Malta is a small island country that loves sports! They have sent athletes to the Summer Olympic Games 17 times and to the Winter Olympic Games 3 times. Even though they haven't won an Olympic medal yet, their athletes always try their best!

As of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games, no Maltese athlete has won an Olympic medal. However, a shooter named William Chetcuti came very close. He is a world-class athlete who almost reached the final in Double Trap shooting in 2004, 2008, and 2012. In 2004 and 2008, he was tied for 6th place, which would have put him in the final, but he lost in a tie-breaker.

Elise Pellegrin made history for Malta. She was the first athlete to represent the country at the Winter Olympics. This happened at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Before her, Malta was the only country in the European Olympic Committees that had not participated in the Winter Olympics.

The Maltese Olympic Committee was created in 1928. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) officially recognized it in 1936.

Malta's Olympic Medals

Malta has not yet won any Olympic medals. However, their athletes continue to compete and strive for success.
