Senegal is a country in West Africa. It has sent athletes to every Summer Olympic Games since 1964. This is special because many nearby countries have missed some games. Senegal has won only one Olympic medal. This was a silver medal won by Amadou Dia Ba. He competed in the 400 metre hurdles race in 1988.

Before Senegal became fully independent, an athlete named Abdoulaye Seye won a bronze medal. He represented France in the 200 metres race in 1960. This was just before Senegal became its own country.

Senegal is also one of the few tropical countries to compete in the Winter Olympic Games. Their winter athletes have been in five Winter Olympics since 1984. They have not won any medals in these games. Lamine Guèye represented Senegal in 1984, 1992, and 1994. Later, Leyti Seck competed in 2006 and 2010.
