The Governor of Maharashtra is like the main representative of the President of India in the state of Maharashtra. They are the official head of the state. Even though the Governor has important powers given by the Constitution of India, the daily decisions and main executive work are done by the Chief Minister and their team of ministers.
C. P. Radhakrishnan is the current Governor of Maharashtra. He took office on July 31, 2024.

What the Governor Does
The Governor has several important jobs and responsibilities. They officially appoint many key officials in the state government.
Some of the people the Governor appoints include:
- The main legal advisor for the state, called the Advocate General.
- Officials who look into complaints against public servants, known as the Lokayukta and Upa Lokayukta.
- The head of the State Election Commission, who manages elections in the state.
- The leaders and members of various important commissions and tribunals. These include groups that handle administrative issues, human rights, and public service recruitment.
