How Heidi Was Made
This new Heidi series was created to bring the classic story to kids today. It was made between 2013 and 2014. Most of the work happened in France. Studio 100 Animation was the main studio behind it. Other companies, like Heidi Pyl from Australia, also helped.
For the first 27 episodes, the creators took high-definition videos of real places. They filmed in Haute-Savoie for the Alps scenes and in Friborg for the Frankfurt scenes. This helped the animators make the cartoon locations look real.
The first three episodes were shown as a special "world preview" at a film festival in Geneva. This happened on October 31, 2007. Later, a short documentary series was made about how the show was produced.
In 2013, Studio 100 Animation bought the rights to the show in France. They then produced a 3D version with 39 episodes. This new version started airing in 2015. Because of a partnership with Eurovision Fiction, the show was sent to many countries. These included Ireland, Norway, Cyprus, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and Poland. A second season with 26 more episodes was also made.
