Kai Carlo Cenat III (i/ˈkaɪ sɪˈnæt/ KY-_-SIN-at; born December 16, 2001) is a popular American online streamer and YouTuber. He is known for his funny live streams and videos.
As of 2025, Kai Cenat is one of the most-followed streamers on Twitch, with 18.5 million followers. He is also the streamer with the most subscribers on Twitch. Kai is part of a group of streamers called Any Means Possible (AMP). He has also created popular internet phrases like Rizz and Gyatt.

Early Life and School
Kai Carlo Cenat III was born on December 16, 2001, in Brooklyn, New York City. His mother is from Trinidad and Tobago, and his father is from Haiti. Kai was raised by his mother along with his three siblings. He has a twin sister named Kaiya, an older brother named Devonte, and a younger brother named Kaleel.
Kai went to Frederick Douglass Academy for high school. After graduating in 2019, he started studying business at the State University of New York at Morrisville. However, he left college in 2020. It was hard for him to balance his schoolwork with making videos and streams.
Kai Cenat's Career
2018–2021: Starting Out Online
Kai Cenat uploaded his first YouTube video on January 13, 2018. He started by making videos that featured pranks and challenges. He later joined the YouTube group AMP after Fanum, another YouTuber from the Bronx, discovered him. Kai began to appear regularly in AMP's videos.
In February 2021, he started streaming on Twitch. He moved from YouTube to Twitch, where he streamed himself playing games and reacting to other videos.
2022: Becoming More Popular
In 2022, Kai Cenat started inviting famous guests to his streams. These guests included Bobby Shmurda in April, Lil Baby in October, and 21 Savage in November. When 21 Savage was on his stream, Kai reached his highest number of viewers at the time, with 283,245 people watching at once.
On May 8, Kai released his first song, "Bustdown Rollie Avalanche," with NLE Choppa. This song later became certified Gold. He also appeared in the trailer for Polo G's song "Distraction" in June 2022.
In October, Kai was nominated for "Streamer of the Year" and "Breakout Streamer" at the 12th Streamy Awards. He won the "Streamer of the Year" award in December.
2023: The Mafiathon Event
On January 31, 2023, Kai Cenat started a special month-long streaming event called Mafiathon. Many famous guests joined him during this event, including G Herbo, NLE Choppa, Skai Jackson, KSI, DDG, Rubi Rose, and Autumn Falls. On February 28, he became the most-subscribed Twitch streamer ever at that time. He reached 306,621 subscribers. This record was later broken in September 2024 by Ironmouse.
On March 11, Kai won "Streamer of the Year" at the 2023 Streamer Awards. In April, he was briefly suspended from Twitch but soon returned. Later that month, Rolling Stone magazine included him on their list of the 20 Most Influential Creators in 2023.
In May, Kai announced a new show with IShowSpeed called the Kai 'N Speed Show. This show was streamed only on Rumble. On August 27, Kai won the "Streamer of the Year" award again at the 13th Streamy Awards.
In September, Kai appeared in the music video for Offset's song "Fan" with Fanum. He also directed his first music video for rapper a Boogie wit da Hoodie. On September 9, he played in the Sidemen charity soccer match at London Stadium. On December 14, Nicki Minaj joined Kai's stream, which broke his previous viewership record. Over 348,000 people watched at the same time.
2024: Mafiathon 2 and Big Partnerships
On February 8, 2024, Kai Cenat announced that he had officially partnered with Nike. He was the first streamer to sign a deal with the company. On February 17, Kai won "Streamer of the Year" and "Best Just Chatting Streamer" at the February 2024 Streamer Awards.
On June 2, Kai and AMP teamed up with Beta Squad, a British YouTube group, for a charity soccer match. The event was held at Selhurst Park in London and raised money for The Water Project. On July 13, he appeared in a MrBeast video called "50 YouTubers Fight for $1,000,000". In August, Rolling Stone listed Kai Cenat as number 1 on their "25 Most Influential Creators of 2024" list. In October, McDonald's announced they were working with Kai to promote their chicken Big Macs in the US.
On November 1, Kai began his second month-long streaming event, Mafiathon 2. A part of the money raised from subscriptions went towards building a school in Nigeria. Many famous guests joined this event, including Lil Uzi Vert, Miranda Cosgrove, Snoop Dogg, Quavo, GloRilla, and members of the cast from Good Luck Charlie. A day after the event started, Kai was briefly banned from Twitch because someone made a fake emergency call to the police about him. On November 11, Kai became the most-subscribed Twitch streamer again, with 337,000 subscribers. On November 30, Mafiathon 2 ended with a record-breaking 728,535 subscribers.
In December, Kai won several awards at The Streamer Awards. These included Best Just Chatting Streamer, Best Marathon Stream, and Best Streamed Collab for a sleepover stream with Kevin Hart and Druski.
2025: Streamer University
In January 2025, Kai Cenat appeared on WWE's Raw show. He announced that he would attend the Royal Rumble event. On March 8, Kai played in the 2025 Sidemen Charity Match at Wembley Stadium in London. He scored a goal in the game.
On May 22, Kai started his three-day Streamer University event. He chose 120 content creators to come to the University of Akron campus. This event gave them a chance to show their skills and meet other creators. Other famous creators like DDG and ExtraEmily acted as "professors." They helped the selected creators learn about topics like "internet beef" and improv.
Impact on Culture
Kai Cenat is known for making popular internet slang words go viral. These include rizz, which means having style or charm, and gyat, a word used to describe someone with a prominent backside. In 2023, Oxford University Press chose Rizz as its word of the year. Gyat was also nominated for the American Dialect Society's 2023 Word of The Year. In July 2025, Time magazine included Kai Cenat on their first "TIME100 Creators" list. This list features the 100 most influential digital voices.
