Kai Carlo Cenat III (pronounced KY sə-NAT; born December 16, 2001) is a very popular American online streamer and YouTuber. He is known for his funny live streams and videos. As of 2025, he was the most-followed and most-subscribed streamer on Twitch, with over 20 million followers. Kai is also a member of a group of streamers called Any Means Possible (AMP).

Kai Cenat is famous for making several internet phrases go viral, like Rizz and Fanum tax. He has achieved amazing things in the streaming world. For example, he was the first Twitch streamer to get more than 500,000 subscribers during his "Mafiathon 2" event in November 2024. He broke his own record again with 1,000,000 subscribers during his "Mafiathon 3" event in September 2025.

Kai Cenat's Early Life and Background

Kai Carlo Cenat III was born on December 16, 2001, in Brooklyn, New York City. His parents are from the Caribbean. His mother is from Trinidad and Tobago, and his father is from Haiti. Kai grew up with his mother and three siblings: his twin sister Kaiya, older brother Devonte, and younger brother Kaleel. He is Catholic and believes in God.

Kai went to Frederick Douglass Academy for high school. He finished high school in 2019. After that, he went to the State University of New York at Morrisville to study business administration. However, he decided to leave college in 2020. He found it hard to balance his schoolwork with creating online content.

Kai Cenat's Journey in Streaming

Starting on YouTube and Twitch (2018–2021)

Kai Cenat uploaded his very first YouTube video on January 13, 2018. He started by making videos that featured pranks and fun challenges. He later joined the YouTube group AMP. This happened after another YouTuber from The Bronx, named Fanum, discovered him. Kai then started appearing regularly in AMP's videos.

In February 2021, Kai began streaming on Twitch. He moved from YouTube to Twitch and started broadcasting video gaming and reaction content.

Becoming a Popular Streamer (2022)

In 2022, Kai Cenat's popularity grew a lot. He started inviting famous guests to his streams. Some of these guests included Bobby Shmurda in April, Lil Baby in October, and 21 Savage in November. These celebrity appearances helped him reach a huge audience. At one point, he had 283,245 viewers watching at the same time.

On May 8, Kai released his first song, "Bustdown Rollie Avalanche," with NLE Choppa. This song later became certified Gold. Kai also acted in the trailer for Polo G's song "Distraction" in June 2022.

Record-Breaking Mafiathon Events (2023)

On January 31, 2023, Kai Cenat started a special month-long streaming event called Mafiathon. During this event, he had many famous guests join him. On August 4, 2023, Kai Cenat announced a giveaway event in Union Square, Manhattan. He planned to give away PlayStation 5 consoles and gift cards with fellow Twitch streamer Fanum. Thousands of his followers showed up, and the event became very crowded. The New York City Police Department (NYPD) had to step in because of the large crowd.

In September, Kai was featured in the music video for Offset's song "Fan" alongside Fanum. The next month, he directed his first music video for rapper a Boogie wit da Hoodie. On September 9, he played in the Sidemen charity soccer match at London Stadium. On December 14, Nicki Minaj appeared on Kai's stream, which broke his previous viewership record with 348,593 viewers watching at the same time.

Partnering with Nike and Mafiathon 2 (2024)

On February 8, 2024, Kai Cenat announced a big partnership during a livestream: he officially joined the Nike family! He became the first streamer ever to sign a deal with the famous sports company. Later, on February 17, Kai won "Streamer of the Year" and "Best Just Chatting Streamer" at the February 2024 Streamer Awards.

On June 2, Kai and his AMP group teamed up with Beta Squad, a British YouTube group. They held a charity soccer match at Selhurst Park in London, England. This event raised money for The Water Project, which helps provide clean water. The match ended in a 6–6 tie. On July 13, Kai appeared in a MrBeast video called "50 YouTubers Fight for $1,000,000." In August, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Kai at number 1 on their "25 Most Influential Creators of 2024" list. In October, McDonald's announced a partnership with Kai to promote their chicken Big Mac in the US.

On November 1, Kai began his second month-long streaming event, Mafiathon 2. During this event, 20% of the money from subscriptions went towards building a school in Nigeria. Many famous guests joined this subathon, including Lil Uzi Vert, Miranda Cosgrove, Snoop Dogg, Quavo, GloRilla, and members of the cast from the Disney Channel show Good Luck Charlie. Other guests included Kodak Black, Serena Williams, Marshmello, the Jabbawockeez, Soulja Boy, Bill Nye, Kevin Hart, and Kyrie Irving. A day after the subathon started, Kai faced a brief interruption on his Twitch stream. On November 11, Kai once again became the most-subscribed Twitch streamer, with 337,000 subscribers.

On November 30, Kai ended his Mafiathon 2 with an incredible 728,535 subscribers. This more than doubled the previous record. In December, Kai won several awards at The Streamer Awards. These included Best Just Chatting Streamer, Best Marathon Stream, and Best Streamed Collab for a sleepover stream with Kevin Hart and Druski.

In January 2025, Kai Cenat made an appearance for WWE on the January 27 episode of Raw. He announced that he would attend the Royal Rumble event and called out IShowSpeed. On March 8, Kai participated in the 2025 Sidemen Charity Match, held at Wembley Stadium in London, United Kingdom. He played for the YouTube Allstars team and even scored a goal.

On May 22, Kai began his three-day Streamer University event. He chose 120 content creators to gather at the University of Akron campus. This event gave them a chance to show their talents and meet other creators. Other famous creators like DDG and ExtraEmily acted as mentors. They guided the participants through topics like improv and how to handle online situations. On September 1, Kai started his third and final month-long subathon, Mafiathon 3. During this event, 15% of the money from subscriptions continued to go towards building the school in Nigeria. On January 13, 2026, Kai Cenat released a YouTube video titled "I Quit." In the video, he announced that he was shifting his focus from just streaming to broader projects. He talked about his mental health and wanting to take a break from his busy streaming schedule. The video also launched his new clothing brand, "Vivet."
