Religious Changes and Conflicts
- On January 5, Felix Manz, one of the first leaders of the Swiss Anabaptists, was put to death in Zürich. The Anabaptists were a group who believed in adult baptism, which was different from the main church at the time.
- The Protestant Reformation began in Sweden. This was a major religious movement that led to the creation of new Christian churches separate from the Roman Catholic Church.
