Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Star Wars universe is huge, with many exciting stories told through movies and TV shows. It all started with two animated series in the mid-1980s. Then, more animated shows began in the 2000s, focusing on the prequel era and the Clone Wars. When Disney bought Lucasfilm, only The Clone Wars was kept as part of the main Star Wars story.

Since then, many new shows have come out! Two animated shows, Rebels and Resistance, connect to the original and sequel trilogies. A spin-off from The Clone Wars, called The Bad Batch, started on Disney+ in 2021. There are also animated collections like Visions (2021) and Tales, which includes Tales of the Jedi (2022) and Tales of the Empire (2024). For younger viewers, Young Jedi Adventures, set in the High Republic time, began in May 2023.

The first live-action Star Wars TV show, The Mandalorian, came out on Disney+ in November 2019. It led to other shows like The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka, which are set around the same time. Other live-action series include Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, and The Acolyte.
