Major Events of 1465
January to December
- January 24 – The city of Chilia was taken over by Stephen the Great, the ruler of Moldavia. This happened after a second attack on the city.
- January 29 – Amadeus IX became the new Duke of Savoy. This was an important change in leadership for the region.
- January 30 – Charles VIII of Sweden was removed from his position as king. A religious leader named Kettil Karlsson Vasa then became the temporary ruler of Sweden.
- Around March – Queens' College, Cambridge, a famous college, was officially re-established by Elizabeth Woodville.
- July 16 – The Battle of Montlhéry took place in France. King Louis XI of France and a group of powerful nobles, called the League of the Public Weal, fought each other. The battle did not have a clear winner.
- July 18 – Former King Henry VI of England was captured by forces loyal to the York family. A few days later, on July 24, he was put in prison in the Tower of London. His wife, Margaret of Anjou, and their son, Edward of Westminster, Prince of Wales, managed to escape to France.
- August 11 – In Sweden, Kettil Karlsson Vasa, who was the temporary ruler, was replaced by Archbishop Jöns Bengtsson Oxenstierna.
