List of New York City Designated Landmarks in Brooklyn facts for kids
The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) was created in 1965. It's a special group in New York City's government that helps protect important buildings and places. They make sure these places are kept safe for future generations to enjoy.
The LPC decides which places are "landmarks." These can be individual buildings, parts of buildings (like a fancy lobby), beautiful outdoor spaces, or even whole neighborhoods. Once a place is a landmark, it means it's historically or architecturally important, and changes to it are carefully reviewed.
The New York City borough of Brooklyn has many of these special landmarks. This list shows some of them. Some are also called National Historic Landmark (NHL) sites, which means they are important to the whole country!
