Kentucky, a state in the United States, has been the site of many military conflicts throughout history. These battles happened over hundreds of years, starting even before Europeans settled in the area.
For a long time, from 1679 to 1763, Kentucky was part of New France, which was controlled by France. Then, from 1763 to 1783, it was ruled by Great Britain. After the American Revolutionary War, Kentucky became part of the United States in 1783.
Many important wars affected Kentucky directly. These include the French and Indian War (1754–1763), the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783), and the War of 1812 (1812–1814). Later, the American Civil War (1861–1865) also saw many battles fought in Kentucky.
