Costa Rica is a country that loves sports, and they have been part of the exciting Olympic Games for many years! Their first time at the Olympics was in 1936. After that, they missed a few games, but they came back strong in 1964. Since then, Costa Rica has sent athletes to every Summer Olympic Games. They have also competed in some Winter Olympic Games since 1980.

Costa Rican athletes have won a total of four Olympic medals. All of these amazing medals were won in swimming by two sisters: Silvia Poll and Claudia Poll. They are true national heroes!

The organization in charge of Costa Rica's Olympic efforts is called the National Olympic Committee. It was created in 1936 and recognized by the International Olympic Committee in the same year. Its official name is the Comité Olímpico de Costa Rica.
