The Allegheny Mountains are a major part of the larger Appalachian Mountain Range in the eastern United States. They stretch for about 500 miles (800 km) from north-central Pennsylvania, through eastern West Virginia and western Maryland, and into western Virginia. This area is known for its many ridges and high points, called summits.

This article lists some of the important ridges and summits found in the Allegheny Mountains. These mountains are part of a special area called the Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians. Some of these peaks are also part of the Eastern Continental Divide. This divide is like a natural line where rainwater on one side flows towards the Atlantic Ocean, and rainwater on the other side flows towards the Gulf of Mexico.
