Imagine a special list that keeps track of important old buildings, places, and objects in the United States. That's what the National Register of Historic Places is! It's like a hall of fame for history. When a place is on this list, it means it's super important to America's past.
Ohio has over 4,000 amazing places on this list. Out of these, 73 are even more special. They are called National Historic Landmarks. These landmarks are extra important to the history of the entire country. Every single one of Ohio's 88 counties has at least one historic place on this list.
