Robert "Bob" Charles Bryan (born April 29, 1978) is a famous American tennis player. He used to be the world's number one in doubles tennis. Bob won 23 big tennis titles, including 16 in men's doubles and 7 in mixed doubles. He started playing professionally in 1998.

Bob played with his twin brother, Mike. Together, they were the top doubles team for many years. They first reached the number one spot in September 2003. The Bryan brothers were even named the best ATP Team of the Decade for 2000–2009. They also achieved a "career Golden Slam" at the 2012 London Olympics. This means they won all four major Grand Slam titles and an Olympic gold medal!

The Bryan twins stopped playing professionally in August 2020. In their last two tournaments, they won the title in Delray Beach. They also won a key match for the U.S. Davis Cup team in Honolulu.

Bob Bryan: Tennis Star!

Who is Bob Bryan?

Bob Bryan is a retired American tennis player. He is best known for playing doubles with his twin brother, Mike. They are one of the most successful doubles teams ever.

Amazing Tennis Records

Bob Bryan and his brother Mike hold many records in tennis. They won 16 Grand Slam titles in men's doubles. They also reached 30 Grand Slam men's doubles finals. The brothers were named ITF World Champions 10 times. They won 116 ATP titles and played in 169 ATP finals.

They were ranked number one in the world for 439 weeks. This is a very long time! They also won over 1000 team matches. For 10 years in a row, they won at least one Grand Slam. Fans voted them the ATP Fans' Favorite Doubles Team 11 times. They were also named the ATP Team of the Decade.

The Bryan brothers are the only team to achieve the "Bryan Golden Slam." This means they held all four Grand Slam titles and an Olympic gold medal at the same time. They also reached 7 Grand Slam finals in a row from 2005 to 2006. They won 39 Masters 1000 titles. They are one of only two teams to win all nine Masters 1000 events.

College and Junior Success

Before turning pro, Bob was a top junior player. In 1998, he was the number one ranked singles player in the nation. He won the clay court nationals that year. He also reached the finals of the Kalamazoo tournament.

Bob and Mike won the Kalamazoo doubles title twice. They won in 1995 and 1996. They also won the US Open Junior doubles title in 1996.

Bob played college tennis for Stanford University. He helped the Stanford team win two NCAA team championships. In 1998, he won the "Triple Crown." This meant he won the NCAA singles, doubles (with Mike), and team titles. He was the first man to do this since 1992.

Playing with His Twin Brother Mike

Bob and Mike Bryan are twin brothers. Mike is older by two minutes. Together, they won 116 doubles titles. This includes 16 Grand Slam titles.

In 2005, the Bryan brothers reached the finals of all four Grand Slam tournaments. This was only the second time a men's doubles team had done this. In 2006, they won Wimbledon and the Australian Open. This completed their first Career Grand Slam.

After winning the 2012 US Open, they won the first three major tournaments of 2013. This meant they held all four Grand Slam titles at once. However, they couldn't win the calendar year Grand Slam. They lost in the semi-finals of the 2013 US Open.

The twins finished the year as the top-ranked team ten times. This happened in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007. Then, they were number one every year from 2009 to 2014.

Davis Cup and Team Tennis

The Bryan brothers often played for the U.S. Davis Cup team. The United States won its 32nd Davis Cup title in 2007. Bob and Mike have won the most Davis Cup matches for the U.S. as a doubles team. Bob also holds the record for playing in the Davis Cup for the U.S. for 14 years.

Bob and Mike started their World TeamTennis careers in 1999. They played for many different teams over the years. They won two World TeamTennis titles. One was with the Newport Beach Breakers in 2004. The other was with the Kansas City Explorers in 2010.

In 2018, Bob injured his hip during a match. He had surgery to fix it. He made an amazing recovery. He rejoined his brother less than a year later for the 2019 Australian Open. They even reached the quarterfinals. In February 2019, they won their first title since his surgery in Delray Beach.
