Deadly (franchise) facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Deadly... is a super popular British TV show about wildlife. It's made for kids and teens, and you can watch it on CBBC, BBC One, and BBC Two. The main presenter is Steve Backshall. Other presenters like Naomi Wilkinson and Barney Harwood have also joined him for different shows. The whole "Deadly" adventure started with a show called Deadly 60. Since then, lots of other "Deadly" shows have been made!

Deadly 60

In each series of Deadly 60, Steve Backshall and his team travel all over the world. Their goal is to find 60 of the "most deadly" animals. In every episode, Steve tracks down different animals in their natural homes. He shares cool facts about what makes each animal special. He also explains how they fit into their environment and how they hunt. This is why they are called "deadly"!

Deadly 60 is shown in many other countries too. For example, it started airing in the US on NatGeo Wild in August 2011.

Live 'n Deadly

Live 'n Deadly is a spin-off show from Deadly 60. It had 10 live shows and 3 special episodes that weren't live. This show was a live TV magazine hosted by Steve Backshall and Naomi Wilkinson. It featured lots of fun animal facts, games, and wildlife stories. Because it was live, viewers could interact with the show!

The show traveled around the UK, filming live from different places. The first series of Live 'n Deadly aired on BBC Two (and also on the CBBC Channel) on Saturday mornings. This was between September and December 2010. After each live Saturday show, a public event was held the next day nearby. These events were run by BBC Learning. They offered many hands-on activities about wildlife for kids and families. Clips from these events were shown on the next Saturday's live program.

Series 2 of Live 'n' Deadly aired between September and December 2011.

Deadly Dinosaurs

In 2018, it was announced that Steve Backshall would host a new "Deadly" series, this time about dinosaurs! The series started in June 2018 and had 10 episodes, airing every Wednesday. Each dinosaur is shown as a computer-generated figure. These figures mostly used footage from Planet Dinosaur. They were supposedly the most realistic versions ever seen. Each dinosaur was given a "deadly scale" score. This score was based on their weapons, size, and speed. The only thing to get a 100% deadly score was the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs in the 9th episode!
