European Gymnastics is a big sports group that helps organize gymnastics in Europe. It is one of five groups that represent Europe in the International Gymnastics Federation (which is often called FIG).
This organization started on March 27, 1982. Back then, it was known as the European Union of Gymnastics. On April 1, 2020, it changed its name to European Gymnastics. Its main office is in Lausanne, a city in Switzerland.
Gymnastics Competitions
European Gymnastics puts together many exciting competitions. These are called the European Gymnastics Championships. They happen for different types of gymnastics.

Member Countries
European Gymnastics works with many countries across Europe. Each country has its own gymnastics group, called a federation. These federations are members of European Gymnastics.
As of 2015, there were 50 member federations. This means 50 different countries or regions were part of European Gymnastics.

Recent Events
After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) made some changes. They did not allow Russian athletes or officials to take part in their events.
Also, all FIG World Cup and World Challenge Cup events that were planned for Russia were cancelled. No other FIG events will be held in Russia for now. The Russian flag was also not allowed at FIG events.
