The iPhone Air is a smartphone made by Apple. It is part of the 19th generation of iPhones. Apple introduced it on September 9, 2025, at an Apple Event in Cupertino, California. The iPhone Air was launched alongside the iPhone 17 and the more advanced iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max.
This phone took the place of the 'Plus' series in the iPhone lineup. It focuses on being super light and having cool new features. At just 5.6 mm thick, it is the thinnest iPhone ever made, even thinner than the iPhone 6.

Discover the iPhone Air Design
The iPhone Air is the thinnest iPhone model ever developed by Apple.
The iPhone Air has a super thin body made of polished titanium. This makes it lighter than the iPhone 17 models, which use aluminum. It is the lightest iPhone in its generation.
The front screen uses a special strong glass called Ceramic Shield 2. It also has a new coating to stop glare. The back is also protected by Ceramic Shield. There is a slightly raised part on the back for the cameras, speaker, and the phone's main computer parts. The iPhone Air comes in four cool colors: Sky Blue, Light Gold, Cloud White, and Space Black.

iPhone Air Technical Details
Powerful Chipset for Performance
The iPhone Air has a powerful A19 Pro chip. This chip is like the phone's brain. It has a 6-core CPU (for general tasks), a 5-core GPU (for graphics), and a 16-core Neural Engine (for smart AI features).
It also uses new C1X modem and N1 networking chips. These chips were designed by Apple itself. This helps Apple make sure all parts work perfectly together. The N1 chip allows for super-fast Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread connections.
Amazing Display Quality
The iPhone Air includes a bright 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED screen. It can get super bright (3000 nits) and has a smooth refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. This makes scrolling and games look amazing.
The screen shows a lot of detail with a resolution of 2736×1260 pixels. This means there are 460 pixels per inch. It also has an 'always-on' feature. This lets you see important info without touching it. When you are not using it, the screen can slow down to save battery.
Capture Moments with the Camera
The iPhone Air's main camera has 48 megapixels. It is a single lens system. Because it does not have an ultrawide lens, it cannot take super close-up 'macro' photos. It also cannot take special 'spatial' photos.
The front camera is 18 megapixels and has a cool feature called Center Stage. This front camera has a unique square sensor. It can automatically adjust to fit more people into group photos. It can also switch between portrait and landscape views, no matter how you hold your phone.
Charging and Data Transfer
The device has a USB-C port for charging and transferring files. It uses USB 2.0 speeds for data, which is standard. Unlike some other iPhones, it cannot send video to a monitor using this port.
Staying Connected with eSIM
All iPhone Air phones use an eSIM, which is a digital SIM card. This means they do not have a slot for a physical SIM card, no matter where you buy them.
Before, only iPhones sold in the United States (starting with the iPhone 14 series) used only eSIMs. The iPhone 17 and 17 Pro models sold outside the US still have a slot for a physical SIM card.
Advanced Security Features
The iPhone Air, along with all iPhone 17 models, has a special security feature. It is called Memory Integrity Enforcement (MIE). MIE is always on and helps protect the phone's memory from harmful software. It uses advanced technology to keep your phone safe.
It protects important parts of the phone's operating system and many apps. It does this without slowing down your phone. Apple says MIE makes it much harder and more expensive for bad actors to create harmful 'spyware'. This spyware tries to steal your information.
Release and Pricing Information
The iPhone Air had a starting price of US$999. Pre-orders started on September 12, 2025. Sales began on September 19, 2025.
