List of mountains in Massachusetts facts for kids
This article lists some of the mountains in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. These mountains include those found in a famous area called the Berkshires.
Massachusetts has many beautiful mountains and hills. The tallest point in the state is Mount Greylock. It stands at 3,491 feet (1,064 meters) high! Even though Mount Greylock is very tall, no mountains in Massachusetts are on the special list of "Four-thousand footers" by the Appalachian Mountain Club. This list is for peaks in New England that are over 4,000 feet tall and stick out at least 200 feet from the land around them. Still, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) officially recognizes thousands of named mountains and hills across Massachusetts.
