Wyoming (pronounced "Wye-OH-ming") is a state located in the western part of the United States. It's famous for its amazing mountains and wide-open spaces. Even though Wyoming is the 10th largest state in size, it has the fewest people living in it. This means there's lots of room for nature and wildlife! The western two-thirds of the state is mostly covered by parts of the Rocky Mountains and their foothills. The eastern part of Wyoming is a high, flat area called the High Plains.

Wyoming is home to many mountain ranges and smaller hills. The United States Board on Geographic Names says there are at least 109 named mountain ranges and sub-ranges in the state. Some of these mountains even stretch into neighboring states like Colorado, Montana, Idaho, and Utah.
