List of tallest buildings in Ontario facts for kids
Ontario is a big province in Canada, and it's home to some really tall buildings! This list will show you the tallest skyscrapers and high-rise buildings across Ontario. We'll explore buildings in nine different cities: Hamilton, Kitchener, London, Markham, Mississauga, Niagara Falls, Ottawa, Toronto, and Windsor. Each of these cities has buildings that are taller than 100 meters (about 328 feet)!
The very tallest building in Ontario is First Canadian Place in Toronto. It stands super tall at 298 meters (978 feet). This amazing building was finished in 1976. It's not just the tallest in Ontario, it's also the tallest building in all of Canada! When it was first built, it was the tallest building in the world outside of big cities like Chicago and New York City.
In some cities, like Ottawa, there are rules about how tall buildings can be. For a long time, buildings in downtown Ottawa couldn't be taller than the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill. This was to make sure the famous tower always stood out. Even with these rules, the tallest building in Ottawa now reaches 143 meters (about 469 feet).
Recently, many cities in Ontario have been building lots of new, tall structures. Cities like Kitchener, Windsor, and Markham are growing upwards. They are adding more tall buildings and making their city centers denser. This means more people can live and work in these areas.
Ontario's Tallest Buildings (Over 100 Meters)

This list shows buildings in Ontario that are at least 100 meters (328 feet) tall. We measure their height based on rules from the CTBUH. This includes pointy tops and other parts of the building's design, but not antennas. If two or more buildings have the exact same height, they will share a rank with an equal sign (=).
You'll also see some very tall towers that aren't buildings, like the CN Tower. These are included for fun comparison, but they don't get a rank because they aren't places where people live or work on many floors.
