Al-Nassr Football Club is a professional soccer club from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The club plays in the Saudi Pro League, which is the top soccer league in the country. Al-Nassr is one of only three clubs that have played in every single season of the top Saudi league. The club also has teams in other sports like handball, basketball, and esports.

The name Al-Nassr means "Victory" in Arabic. The club has won 28 official trophies. They have won the top Saudi league 9 times, the King's Cup 6 times, and two Saudi Super Cup titles. They also won two major Asian trophies in 1998.

Al-Nassr has a famous rivalry with another team from Riyadh called Al-Hilal. The game between them is called the Riyadh derby and is the most-watched match in Saudi Arabia.

In 2023, the world-famous player Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr. This was a huge event that brought a lot of attention to Saudi soccer. Many other top players from Europe followed him to the Saudi Pro League. The club's mascot is a knight, representing the historic Knights of Najd.

History

Early Years and Success (1955–1989)

Al-Nassr was started in 1955 by the Al-Ja'ba brothers. A very important person in the club's history was Prince Abdul Rahman bin Saud Al Saud. He was the president for over 39 years and helped turn the team from a second-division club into a champion. Because of his love for the team, he is known as the "Godfather" of Al-Nassr.

The club was promoted to the first division in 1963. In the 1970s and 1980s, Al-Nassr was very successful. They won four league titles and many cups. The team's success was thanks to three amazing Saudi players: Majed Abdullah, Fahd Al-Bishi, and Mohaisen Al-Jam'an. They were known as the "Saudi Golden Trio."

The First Global Club from Asia (1990–2002)

In the 1990s, Al-Nassr continued to win, including two more league titles. The team also started winning international trophies. They won the Asian Cup Winners' Cup and the Asian Super Cup in 1998. This was a huge achievement for the club and its star player, Majed Abdullah.

Because they were the champions of Asia, Al-Nassr was invited to play in the first-ever FIFA Club World Cup in 2000. They played against famous clubs like Real Madrid. This made Al-Nassr the first Asian club to play in a global tournament, earning them the nickname Al-Alami, which means "The Global One."

A Period of Struggle (2003–2007)

After their star players retired, Al-Nassr went through a difficult time. The team struggled in the league. In the 2006–07 season, they almost got relegated to the second division. This was a tough period for the club and its fans, as their rivals Al-Hilal became more successful.

The team continued to be strong, winning the league again in the 2014–15 season. Later, the club signed Moroccan stars Abderrazak Hamdallah and Nordin Amrabat. Hamdallah, known as "The Executioner," was an incredible goal-scorer. In the 2018–19 season, he broke the record for the most goals in a single season with 34 goals, helping Al-Nassr win the league title.

In 2021, Brazilian player Talisca and Cameroonian striker Vincent Aboubakar joined the team, adding more firepower to the attack.
