Iran is a large country in the Middle East, home to many interesting cities! This page lists some of these cities, organized by their province. Iran has 31 provinces and over 1,200 cities. The numbers you see for how many people live in each city come from official counts done by the Statistical Center of Iran. Since 2006, Iran has counted its population every five years. Cities shown in bold are important capitals for their provinces, counties, or districts.
