Long Island has many exciting attractions. Here are some of the best:
Brooklyn Attractions
- Brooklyn Museum
- This is one of the biggest art museums in New York City. It has amazing art from all over the world. It opened in 1897.
- Brooklyn Tabernacle
- This is one of New York City's largest churches. Its choir has even won Grammy Awards! It opened in 1981.
- Brooklyn Bridge
- This famous bridge was built in 1874. It is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States.
- Coney Island
- Coney Island was a huge amusement area a long time ago. Today, it still has two fun amusement parks and other attractions. You can also walk along the Riegelmann Boardwalk. It has been a popular spot since the 1880s.
- Prospect Park
- This park in Brooklyn has the country's longest open park meadow. It also has old trees and Brooklyn's only natural forest. It opened in 1898.
Queens Attractions
- Citi Field
- This is the home stadium for the New York Mets baseball team. It opened in 2009.
- Rockaway Peninsula
- Also known as The Rockaways, this area has been a popular summer spot since the 1830s. It includes the Rockaway Beach and Boardwalk and Jacob Riis Park.
- The Unisphere
- The Unisphere is a giant globe located in Flushing Meadows Park. It is a famous symbol of Queens. It was built in 1964.
Nassau County Attractions
- Belmont Park
- This is a famous horse racetrack. It hosts the Belmont Stakes, which is a very important horse race. It opened in 1905.
- Jones Beach
- This is a very famous beach. The Jones Beach Tower looks like a tall bell tower in Venice, Italy. It opened in 1928.
- Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum
- This arena used to be the home of the New York Islanders hockey team. It opened in 1972.
- Old Westbury Gardens
- This beautiful place has a large mansion called Westbury House. It has 23 rooms and is surrounded by 160 acres of lovely gardens. It opened in 1903.
- Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park
- This park is a huge garden with many different trees and plants. It covers over 400 acres in Oyster Bay. It was developed between 1918 and 1921.
- Sagamore Hill
- This was the home of Theodore Roosevelt, who was the 26th President of the United States. He lived here from 1886 until he passed away in 1919. The house was built in 1884.
- UBS Arena
- This is the current home arena for the New York Islanders hockey team. It opened in 2021.
- Welwyn Preserve
- This is a 204-acre nature reserve. The mansion on the property now houses a Holocaust museum. It was built in 1913.
Suffolk County Attractions
- Adventureland
- This is a 12-acre amusement park located in East Farmingdale, New York. It opened in 1962.
- American Airpower Museum
- This museum has a collection of old aircraft. It is located at the former site of a factory that made airplanes. It opened after World War II.
- Bald Hill
- The Bald Hill Memorial in Farmingville honors U.S. Veterans who served during the Vietnam War. It was built in 1991.
- Big Duck
- This is a unique building shaped like a giant duck! It was built in 1931.
- Captree State Park
- This state park is a great spot for fishing and picnics. It overlooks the Fire Island Inlet Bridge and part of Fire Island. It opened in 1954.
- Fire Island Light
- This is a tall, 180-foot stone Lighthouse. It started working in 1858, replacing an older, smaller lighthouse from 1826.
- Great South Bay Bridge
- This bridge is part of the Robert Moses Causeway. It connects Long Island to islands like Fire Island and Jones Beach Island. It opened in 1963.
- Long Island Game Farm
- This is a Petting Zoo with over 200 animals. It's one of Long Island's oldest and most famous animal places. It opened in 1970.

- Splish Splash
