People entering the Olympic Stadium in Athens, 1906
The 1906 Summer Olympics were a big sports event held in Athens, Greece. They are also known as the 1906 Intercalated Games. These games were special because they happened in between the regular Olympic Games.
Even though medals were given out, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) doesn't officially count these games as part of the main Olympic series. This is because they were held two years after the 1904 Olympics and two years before the 1908 Olympics, instead of every four years.
Nations that Competed
Athletes from 20 different countries came to Athens to compete in these games. It was a chance for many young athletes to show their skills!
