Chile is one of the few countries that took part in the very first 1896 Summer Olympics. They also joined the 1948 Winter Olympics for the first time.

Since 1934, the Chilean Olympic Committee has been in charge of sending athletes to the Olympic Games. Before that, the Chilean Athletics Federation helped athletes go to the Olympics.

Chilean athletes have won a total of 15 medals at the Olympics. Most of these medals came from tennis. So far, Chile has not won any medals at the Winter Olympics.
