Johanne Morissette Daug Amon was born on June 2, 1996, in Cebu, Philippines. Her mother is Analie Daug, and her father is rock musician Amay Amon. Morissette is the oldest child and has a younger brother named Jeremy Mattheu.
Her father chose her first name, "Johanne" (pronounced "Yohan"), from the famous German composer Johann Sebastian Bach. Her stage name, "Morissette," came from her father's favorite singer, Alanis Morissette. When she was only 3 years old, her family discovered she could sing by hearing her use a karaoke machine.
Morissette started entering singing contests in Cebu. She sang Christina Aguilera's "Reflection" in her first radio station contest. At age 9, she was a finalist in Little Big Star Cebu. She also won a contest at age 11. Around that time, she had a small growth removed from her neck. She also opened for famous singers like Sarah Geronimo and Kim Chiu at mall shows in Cebu. Morissette learned to sing in the whistle register from singers like Nina Girado and Mariah Carey. She also looked up to Regine Velasquez and Sarah Geronimo as she grew up.
